FIFA Branding

Exercise

For a class project, we were tasked with creating branding for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. My job was to create the brands color palette, typography, logo, tickets, and social media example graphics. This project highlights my creative direction and illustration skills.

Base Guidelines & Logo

For this project, my group and I were to create an entirely new FIFA branding for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. I was personally told to create the base direction that my group would continue with creatively for the other elements.

Given full creative freedom, I decided to illustrate the logo. I wanted my groups branding to highlight the United States (who's hosting 10/15 of the matches) while showing thanks and unity to Mexico and Canada for helping hosting, along with paying homage to the classic FIFA trophy. To do this, I created an illustration referencing the Statue of Liberty's torch, highlighting each host countries flag with the flames, while subtly still maintaining the iconic shape of the FIFA trophy. I chose the State of Liberty as my primary reference as it is the biggest representation of welcoming and unity.

The colors chosen for the color palette were pulled from the 3 colors used with the 3 different flags and the classic turquoise and tan shades to reference Lady Liberty.

Ticket Design

For this task, I was told to create a hypothetical physical admission ticket that could be slightly adjusted to change the location. For my design, I wanted to continue to highlight the homage of the "Statue of Liberty" without being too direct to keep the energy focused on FIFA and soccer. Working in the direction from my logo, I decided to digitally illustrate the tickets graphics as well.

With these initial ideas in mind, I created my ticket. Using the Lady Liberty colors, the front of the ticket shows a digital graphic of the FIFA legend Pele, in the midst of his famous bicycle kick shot that was taken during a previous World Cup. Using this notable imagery as a reference, I then utilized my typography at the bottom of the ticket, I created a node to the State of Liberty as the player looks to be as a "statue" upon a "stone pedestal".

The name of the city is seen as the action indicator of the kicking motion, which can be easily adjusted to each location.

The back of the ticket has a solid icon of the logo.

Social Media Graphics

Lastly, for the social media examples I wanted to have them tie in with the overall classic, modern, branding theme and continue with the layering graphics similar to the ticket graphics.

The overlapping numbers indicate the number match keeping the Lady Liberty colors consistent. I also changed the city name colors based on the host country's unique color.
