OIL PAINTINGS
Starting in 2022, my practice is rooted in realism, but driven by the emotional weight of the human experience. I paint from personal memory, thoughts, and connections, to be a reflection of how they can share collective meaning.
At its core, as I create more I want my work to be about empathy, and the power of lived experience to engage thought and conversation past the canvas.

THE LITTLE THINGS
Centering on a freshly opened pomegranate, within the cluster of seeds, two small human figures appear to be dancing, emerging subtly from the composition. Their presence transforms the fruit into a vessel for joy, intimacy, and the quiet moments that sustain us.
By embedding these figures inside something so ordinary, the piece reflects my ongoing exploration of finding happiness in small, often overlooked experiences. This work marks my fourth studio oil painting.

THE RISEN WITH IN THE FALEN; VISUAL OF KANYE "YE" WEST
This painting explores the intertwined nature of the risen and the fallen, presenting them not as opposing forces but as two of the same. Using the figure of Kanye West as a vessel for this duality, a figure whose art I have personally connected with, the work reflects on how ascent and collapse must coexist within a single life if you strive for one or the other. It is my third oil painting in this ongoing exploration of human complexity.
Technically, this is the smallest piece I’ve completed to date. The face itself is no larger than a quarter. Working at this scale was a personal test to force me to strip away detail and rely on essential marks, sharpening my ability to communicate emotion and form with deliberate restraint.

SZA
This painting is a tribute to one of my most enduring artistic influences, SZA. Her work embodies the raw beauty of female rage, vulnerability, and self‑reflective qualities that shaped this generation of women. Using her image as a focal point allowed me to continue pushing my exploration of realism oil painting while honoring an artist whose voice has deeply informed my own creative language.
This is my second completed oil painting and the largest canvas I’ve worked on to date.

BRENT FAIYEZ
Inspired by R&B artist Brent Faiyaz, this piece marks my first completed oil painting. It served as a focused study in realistic portraiture, allowing me to refine my approach to likeness, tone, and subtle detail while working from an artist whose music has shaped my creative sensibilities.

MY STOLEN SELF PORTRAIT
This piece represents over sixty hours of work on what became my first oil painting. Though I was never able to bring it to completion, the process marked a turning point in my practice. As my largest and most time‑intensive project at the time, it challenged my patience, discipline, and technical limits.
Even unfinished, the work holds value for me, a record of growth, persistence, and the early foundations of the artist I'm striving to be. Sharing it feels important, not because it’s perfect, but because I’m proud of the progress it represents.
